Accommodation

The apartment consists of a main living area with kitchenette and eating area and large sofa bed (sleeps 2). The double French windows open out onto a private grassed patio area with great views of the surrounding mountains.

There is a main double bedroom (sleeps 2) and a ‘coin nuit’ (sleeps 2), and a bathroom with shower and a separate toilet.

There is also use of a ski locker.

Bedlinen and towels are provided.

In the winter the town is a thriving ski resort offering a range of skiing and snowboarding for all levels. The cable car lift is a 10-minute walk from the apartment which takes you up to the resort called Pla d’Adet where you can access the higher part of the resort called Espiaude. The resort has 54 runs, with over 100km of pistes ranging from beginner green runs to some very challenging blacks.

With just a 20 minute drive further into the mountains (there is a regular bus from the end of the road) you can reach the higher resort of Piau Engaly which has snow guaranteed from December through to mid April.

The resorts of La Mongie/Bareges, Peyragudes and Val Louron are also within easy driving distance. Andorra is about 3 hours away.

St Lary Soulan itself is a vibrant town with everything you need for your holiday. There is a good selection of restaurants and bars, several supermarkets, cash points and many good shops. The Sensoria thermal spa baths offer a full range of massage and body treatments as well as a family spa pool if you fancy a day away from the slopes.

"MINI Break Ski weekends"

For those who fancy a bit of skiing but don't have the time to have a whole week off, we are offering fully catered long weekend breaks.

Included in the price are airport pickups from Toulouse or Pau and transport to the slopes everyday, with a choice of resorts to choose from.

Accommodation is in one of our properties at Thuy (see main index) and include buffet breakfasts and 3 course evening meal with wine and coffee served in the comfort of your holiday home.

Price for a 3 night stay is £220  and a

4  night stay is £270 pr person

Airport transfers.

We offer airport pick ups for Toulouse and Pau International airports, with prices from £120 for a return journey. (seating 8) This is only available with accommodation through Allons-y Pyrenees.

Resort transport.

We also offer transport to and from the slopes on a daily basis if needed. The closest resort to Thuy is La Mongie, for this we charge from £55 per day.

For resorts slightly further away there would be a small additional charge.

Lift passes

(prices correct as of Jan 07):

Adult day pass mid season 26 euros, high season 30 euros.

To obtain a discount rated pass for more than 2 days you will need a passport photo.

You can also get a pieton pass (foot pass) if you are not skiing. All prices and information can be found on the st lary website at www.saintlary.com

Ski/snowboard lessons

Individual or group lessons can be booked through ESF( ecole du ski francais)

1 or 2 people per hour lesson off peak 34 euros - peak 38 euros

3 or 4 people pr hr off peak 44 euros - peak 48 euros

It is best to book lessons prior to arriving if it's peak time or you require an English speaking instructor. During the quieter months you should be able to book lessons on arrival as and when you want them.

Daily ski school is available for children, the ESF website at www.esf-stlary.com will give you further information.

Equipment Hire

There are plenty of places offering ski and snowboard hire both in the town St Lary or up at Pla d’adet and Espiaude. Prices start at around 14 euros a day

There are several cheaper rental outlets on the road into St Lary away from the resort itself with prices starting at 7 euros a day for boots and skis. Please contact us for further details.

How to get there

Flights

The nearest airport is Pau, about 1 hour 20 minutes drive

Ryanair run daily flights from Stansted see www.ryanair.com for further info

Toulouse is approx about 1 hour 40 minutes drive. Several airlines run regular flights from the UK - see

Car hire is available at both airports. We have found the best deals are available from www.holidayautos.co.uk

If you are thinking of visiting a few different resorts we strongly recommend that you hire snow chains, although the main access roads into St Lary itself are always kept clear.
